CIVIL WAR COOKIES – When Armageddon Hits, you’ll want these in your go bad!

CIVIL WAR COOKIES
When armageddon hits, you’ll want these in your go bag.

For decades hard core survivalists have spoke about the importance of having long term rations that you can rely on if or when things go bad. Once of the go to foods that our four fathers back in the Civil War days relied on was “Survival Cookies” AKA “Civil War Cookies”. A simple and yet effective cookie that provided them with the needed calories to carry on their missions.

Today, most folks rely on dehydrated foods, MRE’s (Meals Ready to Eat) or short term rations of can goods. However, adding something as simple as these which have a longevity in your storage room of 20 years is a no brainer in my book. Keep them storied in a cool environment and hope that day never comes, because if you need to open this bag, then its not a good day for anyone.

Pour 5 coups of all purpose flour into a mixing bowl and add two cups of water. Next add 3 tablespoons of regular salt and mix ingredients into a bread dough batter.

Matt down dough into a thickness that you like. Can be thick or thin, makes no difference. Follow that up by cutting the dough into 2X2 or 4X4 squares and placing them on a cookie sheet.

Preheat over to 375 and place cooking sheet into oven for 30 minutes.
Remove cookies and turn them over, placing back into the over for an additional 30 minutes.

Once done, remove from the over and place them on a cookie sheet to cool. Once cooled, place them in a plastic bag and store them in a cool area along with your other rations and call it a good day!

Receipt:
5 Cups of Flower (All purpose flower)
2 Cups water
3 Tablespoons of salt
