[columns][column size=”1/2″]With the release of the Teaser Trailer mid-December 2016, people have been speculating as to what the MSR really is? From the teaser it appeared to be Savage’s entry to the AR Market. Savage has been in the firearms business for over 100 years. With that being said, Savage has never been into the AR Market but known more for their bolt guns and shotguns. But hey, it’s 2017 and if Springfield Armory can get into the AR game late, why not Savage Arms.[/column]

So what makes this AR different than the rest? In the Teaser video it showed a side-charging handle, M-Lok handguard/rail, and appeared that the rifle is made of billet. But what is the MSR really?

I really like the overall fit and finish of these rifles. I liked the weight and the price point for the Patrol. It is right in line with the other higher end AR’s out there like the SAINT, Bushmasters, Colt, etc. And I really like the fact that Savage is getting on board with the 6.5 Creedmoor round. Smith and Wesson came out last year with 6.5 Creedmoor round in their AR10 platform. I am excited to see how these AR’s will pan out against the rest of the market. But with Savage being known for their quality products, I’m sure this rifle they will not disappoint.

As always, ya’ll be good and be safe!

I was born and raised in NC and I have grown up around firearms with shooting BB guns at the age of around 3-4. I serve my county as a Paramedic and work part-time at my local gun shop. I have been writing for Epic Tactical since May 2016 and have been doing firearm reviews on YouTube for about the same amount of time. My enthusiasm is geared towards the medical side, yet I am always there to help out new shooters find that perfect gun and work on their technique. My wife usually accompanies me to the gun range and she is always there to help female shooters with their techniques and to answer questions.
