On Monday a Judge ruled that concealed handguns will not be allowed at the North Carolina state fair. Gun rights advised asked for the ban to be overturned more than a week ago. Superior Court Judge Donald Stephens ruled “it would be unwise and imprudent to allow firearms into the State Fair.”
The original decision for the concealed weapons ban came from Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. Troxler stated that the decision was based on a vague 2013 law prohibiting people form carrying guns at events where admission is charged.
Grass Roots North Carolina opposed the decision and asked for the courts to allow concealed carry at the State Fair.
“I don’t know why people should be concerned about concealed handgun permit holders at the State Fair,” Grass Roots N.C. President Paul Valone said. “They’ve been carrying next to them in grocery store lines since 1995, all without incident.”
